Another Step Forward Adopt-A-School Initiative is holding another one of our very informative mentoring training sessions! Another Step Forward Adopt-A-School Initiative is visionary in that it designs to assist public schools with the resources of mentoring and tutoring, enriching the lives of youth and families, enabling schools to accomplish the ambitious goal of seeing every first grader that entered school in 2008 graduate in 2020.

Our greatest national challenge is to ensure that all children have a quality education. Critical to meeting this challenge is recruiting and training , youth service and civic organizations, businesses, community leaders and faith-based organizations. Through the Adopt-A-School Initiative (AASI) we are able to train faith-based organizations and provide guidance in developing mentoring and tutoring programs to help these organizations to create partnerships with schools and to ensure that each student is able to reach their academic potential. Through our training program and ongoing support to coalition members, a pathway will be provided to students to become outstanding citizens. The AASI utilizes a wide range of community partnerships, recruitment strategies and a high commitment process, to assist our community and school partners in identifying and assessing their strengths so that they are able to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. Coalition members will encourage students to say yes to:

• GRADUATING ON TIME • SEXUAL ABSTINENCE
• GANG FREE • DRUG FREE

All organizations connected to the initiative are autonomous and independently governed by their organizational policies and procedures.

However, Another Step Forward will provide training for coalition members who will mentor and tutor students in North Carolina Public Schools. Coalition members must agree to meet specific goals in mentoring and tutoring, elevating the academic performance of students.
